My rabbit won't let me trim her nails. How can I do it at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | spayed | 1.5 lbs

My rabbit is petrified of her nails being cut, and she won't let me wrap her in a towel, and I can't bring her to the vet. Her nails have been growing for a year, she won't even let me touch her paws. What do I do?

I would start with finding a treat that Fluffy really likes and never had before. Than daily I would offer her this special treat only from you. After a few days I would offer the treat and touch her feet at the same time. Than work your way up to being about to give her special treats and lifting her foot. hopefully this will allow her to become more comfortable and give you time to trim her nails. hope that helps
