My cat has a pink swollen bump on her anus. What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

Hello! I recently found a pinkish bump on top of my cats anus. It's not large and it's not causing her any constipation, bloody stools, or pain, but I assume it's probably bacterial because it looks a little swollen. I wanted your input and advice on how to treat it or to leave it alone so as not to irritate it.

I am sorry to hear about your concern for Julia! If the area appears inflammed I would recommend an examination at her vet. We can get infected anal sacs that could result in a bulge/swelling on either side of the anus. A wound or unfortunately a tumor could also cause a mass/lump in this area. If the area doesn't seem too inflammed or painful, you could try monitoring it for a week or two. If it is not going away, is getting larger or starts to weep then a visit to the vet is recommended.
