My dog has diarrhea. Is rice and boiled chicken okay to feed him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 7 months old | 80 lbs

Hi my dog was taking a medicine called rimadyl for his voice because he lost it while being at the kennel anyways today he was crying in the morning and I took him outside and he had diarrhea. Then I fed him his regular food. Right after he ate he was pacing and I knew he had to go I was trying to wait because he just ate and then I took him out and he had diarrhea again. Now I just took him out an hour ago he had a tiny bit again. I just gave him a little rice and boiled chicken. Is that ok?

Yes, you can try giving Orcan a bland diet of rice and boiled chicken to see if that helps with his diarrhea. Should the diarrhea continue on the bland diet, he starts vomiting, he loses his appetite, and/or he becomes lethargic, you will need to take him into the vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps.
