Brown discharge. No redness or itching but I always have to wipe the brown gunk from his ears. He's a golden retriever.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Without examining the discharge under a microscope it is difficult to say for sure if this is just normal build up of wax or infectious. If you are getting brown discharge and no redness, I commonly see this with yeast infections. I would recommend using a cleaner such as Zymox Otic Cleanser (can be found online) and clean the ears for 7-10 days. If there is no improvement, then I would recommend having Brodie examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
