Why is my dog pooping so often, but his stool looks normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 79 lbs

my two year old lab Chibby has out of the blue been pooping 6-7 times a day for the last four days, it's not diarrhea it looks pretty normal as far as consistency. his food has changed but he's at the end of a 30lb bag of it and hasn't had this until few days ago so i'm not sure it would be that? is this something i should worry on?

Good Evening! As long as the stool appears normal (normal consistency, size, shape, no blood, no mucus), he is not vomiting, he has his normal appetite, he has not lost any noticeable about of weight, and he is acting his "normal self", he will likely be just fine. :-). Certain diets can increase the volume and/or frequency of bowel movements. If the stool becomes loose, he loses his appetite, or begins vomiting a veterinary visit may be warranted.
