When can my puppy get Heartgard, kennel cough, and rabies vaccines?

After 2wks from her 4th vaccine, can she take first heartguard with the kennel cough and then after 2wks, the anti rabies?

Great question! Heartgard can safely be given to puppies as young as six weeks of age, so it's fine to give it to her now. You don't need to wait for two weeks after her 4th vaccine, there's no problem with them being given together. It is recommended to wait at least two weeks between vaccines for different vaccines, so yes I would wait for two weeks after her 4th vaccine to get her rabies. The kennel cough can be given safely intranasally (in the nose) at the same time as her 4th vaccine or with the rabies. You don't need to wait for that. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Great questions! Yes, I would get Ivy her kennel cough vaccine. It's best to wait two weeks between different vaccines, so I would get the DA2PPV now and rabies in another two weeks. I would start with the lepto now. Best of luck.

I can understand your concern. Unless your puppy is having current complicaitons from kennel cough and/or is feverish, you are ok to vaccinate Lucie as scheduled. Vaccinating a pet is only contraindicated when the pet is actively infected and has a weak energy immune system. We do this because vaccines will challenge the pets immune system greatly and can make an already sick pet even sicker. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Ideally vaccines are given 3-4 weeks apart. Depending on which vaccines they were and what the vaccine manufactured label says, it is safe to have the vaccines given at 15 weeks. The Rabies vaccine is usually given around 16 weeks but every state law is different with when that vaccine is given. Sometimes, we will recommend the vaccines to be finished at 16 weeks to comply with the law and to group the vaccines into one visit. I hope this helps! Kisses to Zipper!

Mia is due for her second bordetella shot on Thursday and her rabies shot on the 18th. Am I able to wait until the 18th to get the bordetella shot or should I go early and get them both done?
It would be fine to give both at the same time in my opinion but it would be at the discretion of your veterinarian. The timing of when to go depends on her last vaccine. I would recommend you call ahead of time to check in with your veterinarian specifically as they need to decide if to proceed with the vaccines at the same time or not. Best of luck!

Hi, I will be getting a new puppy who will be 8 weeks old when I pick her up. She will have gotten her Distemper, adenovirus type 1 &2, parafluenza shot, parvovirus and coronavirus shots from the breeder/breeders vet. What does she need after that be
She will need to have the Distemper/parvo combination vaccine every 3-4 weeks until she is 15 weeks of age. She will need a Rabies vaccine between 12-16 weeks of age. If she is going to board at a kennel, attend puppy classes, go to dog parks, etc. then she may need a kennel cough vaccine and an influenza vaccine. She might also need a leptospirosis vaccine depending on her risk of being exposed as well as a Lyme vaccine. The best thing would be to talk to your vet about which vaccines are necessary for her depending on your location and lifestyle of your dog.

Great question! And may I say how lovely of you to give them deworming treatments and giving them vaccines. They can have their deworming treatments now, and their first rabies vaccine at 12 weeks. They will need a booster of the rabies at 16 weeks of age. I would recommend vaccinating them now with a DHPPi (distemper, parvo, parainfluenza, hepatitis) combination shot. They will need a second booster of that in four weeks after the first shot, and a third booster four weeks after the second shot.

You can start your puppy on heartworm medication any time from now own. If you visit your vet he may have a starter pack for heartworm medication for free in a puppy pack. Not every vet has it, but it does not hurt to ask. Bodetella vaccination is ok at that age, however should you intend to board your puppy anytime with a boarding facility, I would repeat the vaccination, as it may not have been effective given at that age.

Yes, this vaccine is safe for your dog. It is important that he have enough time to build up immunity after the vaccine prior to boarding. For first time Bordetella vaccines, it is typically a series of two given 3-4 weeks apart. You want the second vaccine to be given at least 2 weeks before his boarding appointment. I have 5 week old puppies and am wondering when I should get their first shots and what they would include. They are German shepherds.
Around 6-8 weeks of age, they should get their first Distemper Parvovirus Adenovirus 1 and 2 (Hepatitis) Parainfluenza vaccine and Bordatella Kennel cough vaccine. They will need a Distemper booster every 3 weeks with the last one being given when they are at least 14 weeks old. The Rabies vaccine is generally given at 14 weeks of age but can be given as early as 12 weeks. Other vaccines that your vet may recommend include lepto, lyme and influenza, all of which require boosters 3 weeks after the initial dose. In addition to vaccines the puppies should be dewormed and checked for intestinal parasites via a fecal exam. Congrats and good luck!

Hello. Depending on your state regulations, Rabies vaccines cannot be given until usually 14-16 weeks of age. However, your young puppy should get a series of distemper/ hepatitis/parvovirus vaccines in order to acquire the proper immunity. You should begin now and repeat that vaccination every 3 weeks for a series of 3 vaccines and then have the rabies done at the appropriate age.
