My dog got vaccines after mating. Is it safe for her litter?

My female dog just got her yearly vaccines done, excluding her rabies. My question is that I did mate her 3 days successfully prior. Well the vaccines effect her litter? If so, what’s the right thing to do?

Great question! K should be fine. Even though she was mated three days ago, it's still too soon to be sure that the mating was successful and she is pregnant. You will have to wait until at least three weeks after the mating in order to have her tested to see if she is pregnant. You do want her up to date on her vaccines before she has her litter, but I'd hold off on the rabies for now. Wait to see if that mating was successful or not, and if it wasn't, have her rabies vaccine done then. I hope this helps!

The vaccine shouldn't cause any issues if given a few days before breeding unless she has an allergic reaction to the vaccine (usually we see this issue within the first day) and allergic reactions are rare with this vaccine.

There is no problem with the rabies vaccination and pregnancy because it is a killed virus. The parvo and lepto vaccines are modified live vaccines and could cause abortion, resorption of the fetuses or stillbirths. If she has pseudopregnancy there is no issues to be worried about.

Just as I already answered, yes, there can be problems if she is pregnant and vaccines were given. There is no way to know what will happen until it happens (or doesn't). What problems could arise would depend on how far along she was when the vaccines were administered. There is no sense in worrying at this time as it has already been done. A pseudopregnant dog is not pregnant, in which case, there should be no problem with vaccinating her.

What a pretty girl! No, it's not recommended to give any vaccines during pregnancy in dogs. I would wait until after she's had her puppies and is finished nursing them, then update her vaccines at that time :)

Can i take my dog in for vaccines if she started her heat cycle on the 7th of March. She might be pregnant or should I hold off?
Hi there. We don't normally recommend vaccinating pregnant dogs, since if she would happen to have a reaction to the vaccines, this could cause significant problems for the developing puppies or even cause her to lose the pregnancy. So if you think Rosie might be pregnant, I would recommend waiting until after she's had the puppies, and then having her vaccinations updated.

My dog is about 32 weeks old and still hasn’t gotten a rabies shot is it okay if I take him to get the shot in 2 days?
Yes, definitely take Maks into the vet to get his rabies shot as soon as possible. In some states, it's required by law to have your dog vaccinated against rabies by 16 weeks of age. He will need a booster shot of the rabies vaccines four weeks after the first so he is fully vaccinated against it. Good luck, I hope this helps!

The vaccine prevents the dog from getting rabies and is very good job at doing this, but no vaccine is 100% effective. However, there is a very low chance he will ever get rabies if properly vaccinated. Make sure he gets that next vaccine in two days and another one in a year. Unfortunately there is no way to test for rabies at this time. All you can do is avoid and confine animals that are showing signs of rabies. First of all it is not recommended to vaccinate a pregnant dog, it can be harmful for the fetuses. secondly it sounds as she is ill and your vet should have never vaccinated her in her condition, it can only make things worse. if your description of what happened is accurate i would strongly advise finding a different vet if you need to take her back for treatment, which she will probably still need, as a vaccination is not a treatment for a medical condition, it is a way to prevent infections from happening in the first place.

It is never recommended to vaccinate a pregnant pet. Modified live virus vaccines should never be given. Killed virus vaccines (such as rabies), may be given later in the pregnancy if necessary but only under the advice and guidance of your veterinarian.
