Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 18 lbs
Hi, I took my dog to the vet this Wednesday for an annual check up, like the simple one. He was great! Then, I bought a homemade cookie at PetSmart and he ate the whole thing that was kinda big for his size. He threw up the cookie during that night. Yesterday, he didn't want to eat his food nor his favorite treats. He threw up the little human food he accepted to eat. Now he just tried to throw up and nothing came. How serious this can be and/or what can I do to help him, , please?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Benny! Benny could be reacting to the treat, it could be causing an upset stomach. If he received any vaccinations or medications at the Vet he also could be having a reaction. Since Benny is still vomiting and is now non-productively retching and it has been going on now for over 24 hours he should be seen by your Vet. If his exam is normal they can provide medication to stop the vomiting and send you home with medications to continue. If he did receive vaccinations at the appointment they may give him steroids if they think it is a vaccine reaction. I would also recommend a bland diet for several days: boil chicken or hamburger with rice and feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days. If it was the PetSmart treat I would avoid that treat in the future. If you can't get to the Vet today, with hold water for 6 hours. If there is no vomiting at 6 hours offer small amounts of water. I would fast him (no food) for 12-24 hours then start the bland diet if he continues to not throw up. I hope this helps and I wish you and Benny the best!
