It could be that your dog has injured herself, could have an infection, or it could be a growth of some sort (benign or malignant) causing this red spot on her bottom. Unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I would have her checked out by a vet this week for this problem. The vet can diagnose what is causing the red spot, and can treat her for it. Good luck, I hope this helps!

My dog has a red spot around his butthole. Any idea what would cause that? He is on medicine for his anxiety and his slipped disc but wouldn't think that would cause that woukd it?
Many things can cause redness around the rear end. Common problems I see are irrigation due to seasonal allergies, infection of the anal sac, and sometimes skin infections or tumors. If it seems painful or is not improving I would recommend he be seen by a veterinarian. Thanks for using Pet Coach

I just noticed this red spot on my dog and I was wondering what it is? She doesn't seem to be irritated or hurt by it.
Thank you for providing a picture of Rosie's wound. It looks like she could have injured herself, leading to this red spot. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep an eye on it, and if it gets bigger, becomes swollen, warm to the touch, or there's pus, I would take her into the vet to get treated. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

I have just found a red spot on my dogs Front leg. He is moving away when I try to see it. Is this cancer or anything serious
A red spot could be from an infection, allergic reaction, trauma, or maybe cancer. The best thing would be to have your vet look at the spot to detemine the cause. Your vet can do an apirate or culture to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat.

I have a pitbol and she is a female her bottom is red and swollen and it has covered half of her butt hole
This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be an infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment (advocate or advantage), then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollins, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). my dog has an enlarged red bump on her bum and it is very swollen and looks irritated, she also keeps liking it
Poor girl! This could be a number of things from a benign tumor, an infection, a cancerous tumor and much more. I would first put a cone collar on her to prevent her from licking it or it will only get worse. Since the bump is really swollen and obviously bothering her, I would have your vet take a look at it. Your vet will be able to determine what it is and recommend the best treatment for her. They will likely put her on antibiotics and may or may not recommend to have it surgically removed. The bump could be caused by an infection, allergic reaction, cyst, benign or cancerous mass. The only way to know for sure is to have your vet do a fine needle aspirate. It is a very easy proceedure that takes just a few minutes. Once it is diagnose, your vet can decide the best treatment. Please call your vet and schedule an appointment, especially since it seems to be bothering her.

Red spots could be one of a couple different things: 1) A blood blister - usually get these from some sort of pinching or biting to the area. 2) Tumor - there a a couple of different tumors that will look red. The severity depends on the type of tumor. Your description of the red spot going away and turning into a bump is not quite clear to me, but I'll assume you mean that it is still red and is now raised. If that is the case, then it is most likely a tumor; especially since there is more than one. Don't panic just yet though. There is a type of red tumor that we commonly see on the abdomen and around the groin that will spread to different areas of the skin, but usually does not spread to internal organs. If you notice that these bumps are growing and spreading, then my best recommendation is to have a veterinarian do an exam. My dog has perfectly circular or oval shaped, bright red spots in her groin area, and one in her armpit. They appeared over night it seems. They do not itch, they are not raised. She does have allergies that show near her tail.
I would recommend going to the vet. Sometimes this can occur with insect bites, but it could also happen with autoimmune disease or bleeding disorders. The vet will do a thorough examination, and based on their findings and the medical history, may recommend blood work or other testing.

This could be a severely abscessed anal gland/sac or a tumor or a perineal hernia. This can only be diagnosed with a hands-on exam. You should have it examined by your veterinarian, as it is not possible to distinguish these by just looking at a photo. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a hernia may have to be fixed surgically. To identify a tumor, your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning.
