My cat has a dead tick still attached. Should I remove it or vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 17 years and 7 months old | 8 lbs

Hi, My cat recently picked up a tick. I’ve applied Frontline, and it is clearly dead (- has been flat and dried up for several days) - but rather than dropping off as they normally would, it is still latched on really firmly. She shows no sign of irritation or infection, but I am loathe to try and pull it out and risk leaving anything behind... Should I attempt this, or is it a vet job? (I’d go straight to the vet, except that the car journey really stresses her.) Thanks.

You can pull the tick off with tweezers gripping very closely to the skin. Even if the head stays behind, it is not a problem as eventually the skin will push it out. No need to take your kitty to a vet for this.
