Hi! My Boston Terrier puppy (9 weeks old) had runny/pasty stool, likely from the food change however it began to have red streaks in it. We eventually started feeding him boiled white chicken and rice but he now began have watery, yellow stool. Do you have advice for what I should do?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Loui! Since the stool has progressively worsened and not improved he should be seen today by your Vet. Loui is young and puppies can deteriorate sooner than an adult. The blood indicates inflammation in the colon and usually prompts us to start an antibiotic like metronidazole. I would recommend bringing a stool sample as well. Chicken and rice can help but in young puppies it is not nutritionally the best choice. Your vet can provide a prescription bland diet appropriate for a growing puppy (Hill's i/d or Royal canin GI for puppies). Causes of diarrhea in puppies besides a food change are: intestinal parasites, viral (especially parvo) or bacterial infections, or ate something gross. I wish you and Loui the best!
