Why is my puppy not eating, drinking a lot, and having diarrhea?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 19 days old | 20 lbs

I just sent this before. We have an 11 week old puppy, she has been eating pretty well up until today. She is eating very little here and there but she is also drinking water every chance she gets. Is this something I should be concerned about? She also had a bit of diarrhea this morning but hasnt had a BM since.

Hi there! The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Kira evaluated by a veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start her on anti-diarrhea medications. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl! I hope you find this information helpful!
