My dog's toe is swollen and limping. Is it a broken nail or infection?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 50 lbs

so my dogs two seems to be infected but not sure if he broke the nail or broke the bone.. it is looking like its swelling more each day and he limps around i try to keep him off of the foot but its hard i dont know what happend or how he did it please help me figure out whats wrong and will he be ok and what i can do to fix it..

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor JJ! It is impossible to say from a picture if the toe is broken with out an exam or an X-ray but I doubt it. It is most likely an infection of the nail bed or an inter-digital furniculosis (deep bacterial infection). I would take him to your Vet for an exam this week. Hopefully he will just need a few weeks of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. Good luck!
