My dog has dry patches and a mark near her eyes. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shorthaired Pointer | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 57 lbs

My dog has dry, itchy looking patches around her eyes. They aren't immediately noticeable nor do they seem to bother her but they concern me nonetheless. She's also developed a hypopigmentation mark on her left eye. She had recurring eye infections but it's cleared up after many vet visits. Is this cause for concern?

Hello, looking closely at the pictures you have posted, those patches do not look like anything of concern. It looks like she could be having some tearing around her eyes, but even then, there is no concerning discharge or redness in her eyes. She should be ok to have you continue monitoring at home. Look for any hairloss, her rubbing at her eyes, squinting, redness, or discharge and have her evaluated if you note any of those. Hope this helps and best of luck.
