My cat has different pupil sizes and is slower. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 11 lbs

My cat’s pupils are different sizes. This just happened recently. And my cat is overly cuddly but something feels a bit off. He purs and doesn’t seem in pain although I feel he is a bit slower than usual. He’s about 9 - 10 years old. Is there cause for concern? The difference in pupil size is quite major.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. The difference in pupil size is termed Anisocoria and can indicate disease of the eye. I would recommend having Dot examined by a veterinarian so that a full neurological examination can be performed so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
