My puppy won't eat. Why is my puppy a picky eater and what to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 3 lbs

My puppy doesn’t really eat much and we’ve tried many diffterent brands. We’ve tried wet food, dry food, mixing in her treats, and mixing the wet and dry food. I was wondering what could be the cause of it?

I suggest you get Kaliko to your vet for an exam. Not eating well could be due to internal parasites (worms). I suggest you have your vet do a thorough exam on her and run a fecal test. If no problem is found on exam or with the fecal test she may just be a picky eater and you will have to keep trying foods until you find one she likes. There are also these "gravy" products you can use on top of the food and mix it in. Some times that will entice them to eat. Other option is to buy some canned food and just mix in a small amount (like a tablespoon) to see if she will eat it that way.
