My cat has itchy ears, dark wax, and blood. Is it ear mites? What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 9.3 lbs

I currently have 4 cats and yesterday noticed how my one cat was itching her ears quite a bit. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that there was dark brown wax all in her ears with some spots of blood near the outside of her ears. I read online that it could be mites and to treat it with a bit of olive oil daily for 3 weeks to help soothe and smother the mites and babies. She isnt showing any other symptoms of mites besides the waxy matter and itching.

If one cat has ear mites, all other cats have ear mites, too. There is a much more effective and shorter way of getting rid of ear mites. You should take them to your vet who will check the ears and verify that it is either ear mites or a possible bacterial or fungal ear infection. If it is a mite infection he will give your cats an injection with a miticide such as Ivermectin or use Revolution for cats This will have to be repeated 1-2 times and the mites will be gone. A bacterial or fungal infection needs to be treated with with and antibiotic or a fungicide, respectively.
