Good afternoon. My dog chewy is not eating, the food that I’m giving him is wholehearted with soft food as well. Should I stick with the food or changed.

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I’m sorry to hear that Chewy isn’t interested in eating his food. You can certainly try changing up his diet with a different dog food, but I recommend changing it slowly. For example, mix in a new diet with his old diet first to see if he will eat this. Alternatively, you can offer him boiled chicken and rice, which is a bland diet that may help settle his stomach. If he isn’t interested in eating any food for more than 24 hours, I recommend bringing him to your veterinarian. Inappetance can be a sign of underlying systemic disease, such as liver or kidney disease, hormonal imbalances, inflammation or infection. If he isn’t improving at home, your veterinarian may recommend blood work to look for evidence of underlying disease, or may recommend x-rays of the abdomen to look for any abnormalities. I hope this is helpful!
