My cat had one eye swollen and closed the other night. But yesterday morning when i saw her again, it became worse. It has opened a little bit but a yellow fluid is coming out from her eye. What could it be? Do my cat need to undergo surgery? What can i do?

This appears to be a potentially severe eye infection. You would need to have Snow physically examined by your veterinarian for confirmation and treatment. Once the eye is cleaned up and examined, the best course of treatment can be determined. If the eye is not functional or salvageable or if it is causing discomfort, then surgery may be indicated. Have her seen sooner rather than later to prevent unnecessary pain and potentially permanent damage to the eye.

I would recommend that you have Moe checked out by a vet. Squinting could be caused by a corneal ulcer or abrasion (ouch!), bacterial or viral infection, something stuck under the eyelids, blocked tear duct, among a few other things. Depending on the cause, she can be prescribed an eye ointment to help with discomfort. Until you get to the vet, Moe may find it comforting for you to apply a warm compress for 5 minutes a few times a day. You can do this with warm water on a wash cloth.
