My dog recently started chewing on her foot a lot. When i got her to stop, i noticed it was red/pink and swollen. She hasnt chewed in a while now but its still swollen. I think i once saw a hole and clear discharge but im not sure because she doesnt like me touching it. She is an indoor dog and its only on one paw, the back left. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Based on its appearance I am concerned that this could be a growth. This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!
