Dog recovering from illness, eating but not pooping. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Schnoodle | Male

Hi.my dog was put on two different meds cause he had a infection.. But before i went to the vet he hadn't ate in 4 days.was throwing up clear stuff next day poppies & not eating. Well now he is doing better & has been eating egg's. Yet he hasn't popped.. He is drinking water..what can i do to help him?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. As long as Doddles is continuing to eat and drink water, and is no longer vomiting, it may take him a day or so to defecate again. It can take 1-4 days for food to transit through a dog's gastrointestinal tract, and since he wasn't eating for a prolonged period, you may not see any stools produced for another day or so.     Poor Oscar, but I'm glad he seems to be feeling better today. I wouldn't be too worried about him not passing stool just yet, you can see a period where dogs don't pass stool after having diarrhea. I would expect he would start passing stool again with the next 24-48 hours. I hope this helps!
