Why is my dog pooping blood and soft stool, yet acting normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Male | 1 year and 2 months old | 12 lbs

I'm concerned my dog poodle has been pooping soft but with streaks of blood, and drops of blood for about 3 days not alot but concerned. he's eating fine and drinking water but what could it be? Please help

Hello, sorry to hear about Brownie. It sounds like he could be having some inflammation of his colon. This could be associated with stress, parasites, or other form of infections. Inflammation of the colon can also be caused by having food sensitivities and thus this could be food related. You should try and feed him a bland diet for the next 3-5 days. This can be in the form of plain white rice, skinless and boneless boiled chicken, and low fat cottage cheese. After this, you can transition him back to his normal diet. If he develops any diarrhea with our without blood, if he vomits more than 2-3 times in one day, loses appetite, or becomes very lethargic then he should be seen by his veterinarian immediately.
