Why is my dog's ear wound developing a black crust and bleeding?

Hi My shih tzu had a surgery to close a wound he got on his ear from a dog bite. That wound got a mild infection and is now healing. However, now at the edge of his ear he developed a black crust with slight blood coming out of it:(?! its black crusty and has bright blood within it. looks scary.. I can't attach a photo, I tried to make it small but it won't attach if possible I'd like to email it to you? What is this on his ear please? How can I treat it? best regards. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 2 years and 8 months old | 24 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Knowing that there was an infection present before, this is likely another infection or part of the previous one. This would warrant a veterinary evaluation as at this point, it would be a good idea to culture this wound and perhaps consider further local and systemic therapy. Your veterinarian could check if a persistent infection seems likely and treat accordingly. Good luck and have a great day!
