Pet's info: Dog | Greyhound | Female | spayed | 10 years and 3 months old | 68 lbs
My dog has been back and forth to vets, each time getting antibiotics for a UTI as she was constantly wetting herself and drinking too much. The antibiotics worked but as soon as they ended my dog kept weeing and drinking again. This cycle continued for ages but now she’s been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and is on medication and HRT. She has stopped drinking more but she is still wetting herself during the night and panting too much. Please can you help, thanks.

I'm not sure if you mean that she is already on DES (low dose estrogen) when you say "HRT"[hormone replacement therapy]. If she is already on DES, adding the mediation Proin may help with her wetting herself at night.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Urinary incontinence in spayed female dogs can be a constant source for UTI's. Be sure that the vet has ruled out a tucked or recessed vulva, bladder stones and Cushings disease (increased liver enzymes can make us suspicious but more extensive testing would need to be done to confirm). Then I would ask your vet about Prion or DES (low dose estrogen) to control her urinary incontinence. Hopefully treating her thyroid and urinary incontinence will help with the infections. Symptoms of Cushing's disease are increased thirst, urination, panting, potbellied, skin disease, etc. I wish you the best!
