Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 5 days old | 1.2 lbs
I just got a German shepherd puppy and she’s 5 weeks old at what times of day should i be feeding her the solution and how much? The breeder told me to feed her a power solution mixed in curd and i keep the mixture thin to replicate the mother’s milk. Should I switch to a little more solid puppy food?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Personally I think you should be feeding Ellie large breed puppy food. If the breeder thinks the puppy should be eating something equivalent to it's mothers milk it shouldn't have been removed from it's mother until it was fully weaned. If you want to do what the breeder says don't do it for long and slowly mix her solution with canned puppy food in the next 1-2 weeks. By 7 weeks of age she should be only eating a high quality commercial large breed puppy food. When you feed your dog depends on when you get up and go to bed. Most people feed them when they get up in the morning to start and then give the last meal 4 hours or more before they go to bed. At 5 weeks of age I would be feeding Ellie 3-4 times per day. Good luck!
