My dog barks and whines when I leave the room. How can I stop it?

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 8 months and 26 days old | 79 lbs

How can I get Hercules to stop barking and whinning when he is in a different room then me like I have a gate up in my room that is where I keep him most of the time and when I go to the living room to go do something with out him cause I to usually stay in the room he throws a big fit and starts barking and whinning how .ca I get him to stop doing this?

You can try distracting him with chew toys, or treat dispensing toys. You can also make sure there's a comfortable bed available and turn on some white noise or a soft radio in the room where you want him to rest alone. Crate training can be very helpful as well if you haven't done that with him. He is very young still, so he will likely outgrow some of this behavior as well.
