Accidentally gave my hamster too much ringworm medicine. Is he okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Male | 0.265 lbs

My hamster may have ringworm and I was given a syringe and medicine to give to him through the mouth. I am meant to give him 0.02ml a day but I gave him 0,2?! I don't know whether that's 0.2ml or 0.02ml If I did give him 0.2ml will it kill him? And should I carry on with his medicine? In the last 3 hours since I gave it to him he seems normal. He is a Syrian hamster who weighs 190 grams. Thanks for your help in advance PS: The receptionist in the vets pointed to 0,2

I am so sorry that this is happening to you and Rex! I would recommend that you monitor Rex for side effects of this medication, which can include gastrointestinal distress (diarrhea or a lack of fecal production), a decrease or lack of appetite, or changes in attitude. You are most likely to see the signs above in the first 24 hours. Also, I would recommend informing your veterinarian about this to see if they would like for you to continue the medication, as I don't know how severe Rex's signs are on the skin. I hope that helps to answer your question, and good luck!
