My dog has a bump on its lip. What could it be and is it serious?

Hello, I noticed a bump on my dogs lip today. Attached is a photo. Do you know what this could be? Pet's info: Dog | Alaskan Klee Kai | Male | neutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 20 lbs

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your question. Based on the photo, it is difficult to say for sure what this could be but I suspect this may be a cyst or a swelling due to trauma. If Finn bumped his lip on something, this could be swollen because of that. This may also be an insect bite causing swelling. I would keep in eye on this for the next 24 hours and if it does not resolve, I would recommend taking Finn to a veterinarian to have this examined so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
