My maltipoo weighs 17 lbs. Is it safe to cut a pink over the counter benadryl pill in half to help relieve his skin allergy? He started scratching really bad about 4 days ago. He's getting groomed on Tue. I've cut chicken out of his diet, put salmon oil in his food, and monitor very closely what he eats. The weather recently (Ventura, CA) has been very warm. He doesn't have fleas. I've also put coconut oil on the areas where he's scratched himself raw. As a dog mom it hurts to see him so miserab

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Boo! You can try Benadryl, see link below, but I don't think it will be enough to relieve his scratching. He likely needs to be on something stronger like steroids or apoquel or cytopoint. If the Benadryl doesn't help within a few day I recommend having your Vet do an exam of his skin. https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/ Good luck!
