My dog started shaking earlier today. Sometimes its barely feelable and other times her whole body shakes hard. She has never done this before. What should I do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Shaking can be a sign of anxiety or pain in dogs. If Angel is otherwise normal, then I would monitor for now. If anyone is shooting fireworks nearby or there are storms it could be a fear response. If she is vomiting, not eating, painful anywhere or acting sick otherwise, I recommend a vet visit to find out what is making her ill.

Dogs can shake from pain, anxiety, fear, or discomfort. If the shaking has stopped, then I would not be concerned unless it returns. If it does return, I recommend having Sandy checked by your veterinarian to look for any medical reason for pain or discomfort. If everything checks out okay you can try treating at home for mild anxiety with Composure chews and Adaptil diffusers. If these don't help, there are prescription medications that you can discuss with your veterinarian. Thanks for using PetCoach.
