My dog's head bump burst and a fleshy lump came out. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 5 months old

Felt a hard bump on dogs head about two months ago. Seemed to be getting bigger the last few weeks . I noticed a head on it tonight so gave it a go squeezeing it and a load of puss came out. After cleaning it all up I gave it anouther squeeze just to be sure I got it all and this pops out. Seems fleshy so I’m a bit unsure what to do next.

I suspect that Mabel may have a sebaceous cyst. Here’s a bit more info. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cysts Keep the area clean and dry. It is likely to enlarge again, surgical removal is typically required to completely remove the cyst. It could become infected, so monitor for any redness, pain or oozing from the area.
