My dog has a growing lump, but she's fine. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Belgian Malinois | Female | spayed | 4 years and 8 months old | 55 lbs

I noticed this lump on Annie in Feb... It has grown a little bigger but her appetite, energy etc is the same. It doesn't bother her and doesn't seem painful when we touch it. It was smaller in Feb but grown slightly since then. I am worried. The third picture is the one from Feb. The first two are from today.

You can continue monitoring it for rapid change or growth. As long as it isn't causing pain or restricting motion, this is an acceptable option. If it really bothers you, have your veterinarian examine Anya. A punch biopsy can be done (probably under a local anesthetic if she is well behaved) to remove it and then it can be submitted for pathology to determine the nature of the mass.
