My kitten has diarrhea and is vomiting. Is it his new adult food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 2 days old

My kitten has vomitted twice and had a loose bowel today. But note that he bite me last June 20th :( so he's under observation for my anti-rabies shot also. Another thing the other day, since I ran out of "junior" wet food. I had to change to adult ones so he has eaten such for a day now.

Since you recently changed Ichiro's food, that could be the cause of his vomiting and diarrhea. Be sure to get him back on a kitten formulated food as soon as possible, as he needs that in order to grow properly. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps him. I recommend withholding food for 6-8 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps.
