When can I spay my cat after kittens without disrupting nursing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 5 lbs

Felicia just had her second litter of kittens. How fast can I get her fixed without disrupting feeding them? They are two weeks old and she is making her mating noises and wants outside. I can't do this again. it's creepy one of her first litter is trying to jump on her.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and thanks for being a responsible cat owner! I would say you can get her spayed in about 2 weeks. Obviously keep her inside during this time. In one week start putting out canned kitten food for them several times per day. They are often showing interest in food by 3-4 weeks and can be completely weaned by 5-6 weeks. Hang in there through the yowling- I know how obnoxious it can be! Best of luck to you, Felicia, and the kittens!
