Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 18 days old | 2.5 lbs

My kitten ate some of our dogs food, she seems to be having gas and diarrhea. I put up our dogs food and she is eating her kitten food again. Is she going to be okay or should she go see her DVM?? Thanks in advance!!!!!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Her diarrhea in this case is most likely due to her change in diet. However, other possibilities such as parasites cannot be completely ruled out. It is possible that her diarrhea will improve on its own if it was just that. You can monitor her for now. However, if her diarrhea continues in the next 24 hours, have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!
