My kittens have loose stool from dog food. What can I give to harden it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 2.5 lbs

My kittens have loose stool. I think it may be the food because they got into the dog food but they were spayed and neutered last week and they got shots at that time. They are not acting any different. Stil running around, playing, and climbing on everything (even though I have tried to stop them due to the spay and neuter). Their appetites don't seem to be bothered. They are eating fine. Is there something I can give them to harden their stool?

The diarrhea is most likely the result of eating the dog’s food. I would recommend feeding them a bland diet for the next few days and see how they do since they are otherwise completely normal. Unfortunately there is no good “over the counter” remedy to help form up stool. If they do not respond you may need to take them to the vet for antibiotics and probiotics.
