Kitten very sick after neuter, weak, not eating, breathing weird

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2.5 lbs

I just adopted a kitten and we took him to the vet and got him fixed. Afterwords he started throwing up and having diarrhea and sleeping all the time. We took him back to the vet and they gave him steroids and a B12 and flea meds. He seemed to be getting better but still throwing up a few times. I came home today to find him hiding and so weak he can’t walk. He is acting like he is about to die. He is breathing weird and barely moving, not eating or drinking. All the vets are closed. please help

Poor Hercules! It sounds like he's in extremely serious condition, and needs to see a veterinarian immediately. I would recommend taking him to the nearest emergency clinic in your area, even if this is a bit of a drive. If you're not sure where to go, try calling your regular vet's office - their voicemail message should have contact information for the nearest emergency clinic, or an on-call doctor for emergencies.
