I got an "8 week old" yorkie puppy as a present on the 8th and on the 11ths he woke up with diarrhea, loss of appetite, vomiting, and lazy. Ive been givung him DURMO and Epilac ever since, but he still the same. He is the worst in the morning but later in the day he will get up and walk around and drink and rarely eat. He has his 5 way shot and has been dewormed i thunk like 3 times already, but i think he is too little to be 8 wks. He has been basically the same ever since (todays the 14th)

An 8 week old puppy likely does not have all of their vaccines yet, or they were not effective due to his age (especially if he was still nursing his mother, who provides antibodies). Since this has been ongoing, I would be concerned that there is an underlying illness causing his symptoms, and he should be examined by a vet immediately to rule out more serious problems such as parvo or other illnesses. Your vet can also run a fecal exam or any other tests to help rule out more common issues such as parasites, etc that could be causing these symptoms.

Poor pup! I'm afraid that these symptoms are quite serious - he really needs to see a vet right away, as this sounds like a life-threatening problem. It's certainly possible that he could have parvo with these symptoms, especially if he isn't current on his puppy shots. Other possibilities would include an intestinal obstruction due to something he swallowed, a severe systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, or ingestion of something toxic. I would recommend taking him to a vet immediately for an exam. He/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help determine the problem and get him started on treatment right away.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kenai. I am sorry to hear that he is not feeling well. He will likely need to be re-evaluated as he is not improving. Being such a young puppy it is very easy for him to become dehydrated. He is losing fluid in the diarrhea and then not making up for these losses as he is not eating or drinking. Was he sent home on any medication earlier this week? If so, do your best to continue administering it to him. He will likely require fecal testing for the parvovirus and intestinal parasites. If a causes of his diarrhea can be determined, specific treatment can be started. If he had a cold, he would be coughing or sneezing and would likely have eye and nose discharge. Diarrhea does not tend to be a sign of a respiratory tract infection. Do your best to get small frequent amounts of water and food into him if possible. I hope this information helps!
