Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Lumps and bumps can be many different things include tumors (caused by cancer, which is caused by bad luck), abscesses (balls of pus from an infection), cysts (caused by blocked glands), lipomas (fatty tissue that is caused by fat depositing in odd ways- uncommon in hamsters), or wounds that are very swollen. To know exactly what it is, you would need to go to your vet to have them do an exam, and likely take a sample of the tissue. Good luck with Hazel.
