My outdoor cat has a wound and won't eat. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Bobtail | Female | spayed | 7 lbs

Our BarnCat spent 2 nights outside and she looks like she may have had a bit of a scrum. She could just be exhausted, but she's not interested a fresh can of food, and she's usually very food driven. She let us pet her for a while and then retreated to a a dark spot under a tarp next to the couch she was sitting on when we started petting her. Appears to be a small puncture wound on her back. Plan to monitor her behavior and wound and appetite. Her rabies vaccine is current. Sleeping now.
