My golden retriever isn't eating. Vet says healthy. What food to try?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 6 years and 10 months old | 51 lbs

My golden retriever, 6 years old almost 7, hasn't been eating as much. I took her to the vet, they said she was all fine and suggested change of kibble or adding wet food for a little. Any tips for her loss of appetite?

You could try a different high quality food and/or add a small amount of chicken breast and see if that helps. If the decreased appetite continues then she needs to be rechecked. Your vet can check her teeth to make sure she doesn't have a dental problem, run lab-work, and take an x-ray to help determine the exact cause. Hope she feels better soon!
