Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 74 lbs
What could it mean if my dog has 99% solid stool in the morning but as the day progresses it gets softer? He gets a probiotic 3 times a day as recommended by the instructions and I have added extra fiber to help this issue. He also rubs his face always after eating, he's done this since a very young puppy, and we have gone through 5 different foods since he was 8 weeks

I am sorry to hear about Otis. He could possibly have a senstive GI tract or an allergy. You don't mention the foods he has tried, but often if you are trying over the counter diets they may have similar ingredients (i.e. chicken, soy, beef, lamb) that he may be sensitive too. I would recommend having your vet examine him to be sure he doesn't have any intestinal parasites (you wouldn't see these with the naked eye) and to be sure he doesn't have any vitamin imbalances. They may need to check his stool and do bloodwork for this. They can then advise you on diets to try or perhaps a homemade diet to try (if a homemade diet is going to be used, the website balanceit.com can be helpful and provides information on safe/balanced diets). Also all probiotics are not created equal. I perfer the probiotic Forti-flora made by purina so you can try switching to this in addition. Best of luck to you and Otis!
