Why are my dog's ears swollen, itchy, and discharging after cleaning?

My dog has black looking discharge, scratches his ear (now has an infected cut), tilts his head, twitches his ear, and I am now discovering he has an allergic reaction to Hartz Ear Cleaner. He flamed up, ears got swollen, and he has been (past 2 days) developing these "brown-reddish" spots all over the inside. It would be a huge relief to know what the problem is! As in, parasites or infection? Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 4 years and 3 months old | 20 lbs

The only way to positively diagnose this problem is with a direct viewing of the discharge from the ears onto a microscope slide. Your vet will be able to tell you if he is sees an active bacterial or fungal infection, some sort of parasite, or if the inflammation / discharge is just the result of allergies. Based on his findings he will be able to provide you with the most appropriate treatment plan moving forward. Hope this makes sense.
