Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 4 years and 3 months old | 20 lbs
My dog has black looking discharge, scratches his ear (now has an infected cut), tilts his head, twitches his ear, and I am now discovering he has an allergic reaction to Hartz Ear Cleaner. He flamed up, ears got swollen, and he has been (past 2 days) developing these "brown-reddish" spots all over the inside. It would be a huge relief to know what the problem is! As in, parasites or infection?

The only way to positively diagnose this problem is with a direct viewing of the discharge from the ears onto a microscope slide. Your vet will be able to tell you if he is sees an active bacterial or fungal infection, some sort of parasite, or if the inflammation / discharge is just the result of allergies. Based on his findings he will be able to provide you with the most appropriate treatment plan moving forward. Hope this makes sense.
