My dog has bloody urine and pees a lot. Home remedy or vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | spayed | 21 lbs

My dachshund is peeing frequently and we just noticed she had blood in her urine. Is there anything I can do to help her at home or does she need prescription medicine from the vet?

I'm sorry to hear that Emma is having this problem. Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can give her at home. You need to have your veterinarian evaluate a urine sample to see what the problem is in order to decide on an appropriate medication and treatment for her. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and that Emma feels better soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
