Why is my dog peeing blood? Could it be serious after her heat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 5 lbs

My dog had heat cycle around 2 months ago, but there has been blood in her urine. I am aware that it could be some kind of infection in bladder or so, but could also be urinal stone etc. Do you think this seem serious problem? I have appointment tomorrow morning.

There are many possible reasons, stones, infections and inflammation are amongst the most common and are readily treated once confirmed. I recommend you take a morning urine sample with you for initial testing, xrays and ultrasound may also be required
