My French bulldog is wobbly, throwing up, and lethargic. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 1 day old | 25 lbs

This evening my boyfriend and I noticed our French bulldog was not acting himself. He seemed to be fine one minute and then different the next. When he stands it’s like he can barley keep himself up, he starts swaying kind of like he’s drunk. He threw up once and now we just have him laying down and he’s drifting in and out of sleep. He has broke his leg before and had surgery so maybe it’s just giving him problems now? Please help.

Poor Pierre! The signs you are describing are unlikely to be related to his previously broken leg. It is definitely concerning that he cannot stand, this can be due to ingestion of a toxin (such as human food he should not have or human medications), or a serious intestinal condition such as foreign body obstruction. I recommend having Pierre seen by a vet right away, as he may need stabilization and supportive care. I hope all is well!
