Why is my cat alternating between diarrhea and constipation issues?

HI my cat, she is 6 year old calico, had diarrhea last Thurs night and Friday day.....we gave her some Nutri Vet Cat Anti Diarrheal liquid. No more diarrhea, no nothing. Constipated for Sat and Sun. Had large, some parts hard BM on Monday. Then early Tues morning a small bit of diarrhea again. She is eating wet food and running around and drinking water. Is this normal series of events when cat has diarrhea/constipation? What should I do? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

To keep her regular I would increase the fiber in her diet. I would add a tablespoon of canned pumpkin to each feeding. This will prevent constipation and help with diarrhea also. If she wont eat the pumpkin you can sprinkle a capsule of plain Metamucil on the food. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Freckles.
