Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 7 years and 7 months old | 50 lbs
My 7 year old female dog has a small (about 0.5cm) red/pink lump just above the anal opening. I just noticed it. She was also draggi g her bottom on the ground this morning ( just this once). What can it be and what i can do at home? Vet not available in the area nearby. Grateful for advice.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern! It is difficult to say what this could be just from looking at the picture but it looks like a benign skin tumor. However, there is no definitive way to say what this is without testing it. At home, I would try and prevent Lahti from dragging her hind end on the ground. You can find dog diapers that you can put on her to help prevent this. Also, if she is licking or chewing at the area, I would recommend putting a plastic cone around her head. Both the diaper and cone can typically be found online or at a pet store. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further!
