Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Male | unneutered

We have a great dane name Ajax, he is about 2 years old. He has been diagnosed with anemia in the past and has a very very swollen foot. He went to the vet yesterday and was given antibiotics, anti-inflammatories as well as pain medication, he also has a missing nail and some sores on his swollen foot.He is eating and drinking water normally but has been licking his foot, there is also puss coming out of the swollen foot at the top.

It sounds like his foot is infected. If there is not significant improvement after a few days of antibiotics, you should call your vet and give him/her an update. Your vet may want to culture the discharge and/or a biopsy to determine the exact cause and best way to treat. He may need a different antibiotic or other medications depending on the cause. You can also soak the paw in a warm Epsom salt solution and see if that helps.
