How to safely remove a sticky bandage from my spayed cat's incision?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have my cat spayed a week ago, her vet put a bandage patch on top of the incision and told me to remove it after a week. The patch is very sticky and impossible to remove. My cat tried to licked, but it is too hard to remove her tongue scratches the skin badly, I tried to rub the edge of the patch with olive oil, but it doesn't budge, if there a way to get it off without hurting my cat ? Thank you !

Try using mineral oil on a cotton ball or cotton swab. It will take some time and patience. Do a small section at a time unless your cat is very patient. Place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent further licking.
